ADNU conducts fire drill

The sound of sirens resonated around the campus at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, prompting the people in the ADNU campus go out of their rooms. Thousands of students and members of the faculty and staff hurriedly went to the designated rallying points with school grounds as the O’Brien Library and Phelan Hall are being “engulfed by fire.” A total of eleven casualties were reported to the command center at the Xavier Hall Grounds with two patients needing immediate medical attention.

The event transpired during the Fire Evacuation Drill with Medical Scenario last October 4 which was organized by the Ateneo School Based Disaster Risk Reduction Management Group, in cooperation with the Center for Community Development. The drill lasted for thirty minutes.

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) observed the event. According to the representatives from BFP, the drill went well despite some difficulties encountered especially with some participants. Also pointed out by the evaluator was the excellent performance of the medical scenario team.
